APRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

V”We have never seen anything like this.” God is our hope. He offers us forgiveness as soon as we turn back to him, provided we also forgive those who trespass against us. We turn to him now with our request.

1. For joy that our sins are forgiven (Pause)

God declares our sins are forgiven, refusing to recall our deeds in the past. May our joy in experiencing God’s forgiveness encourage us to avoid sin in our lives and to live by the commandments. Lord, hear us.

2.For those who are not aware of their sinfulness (Pause).

We pray for all those who are not aware of their sinfulness. May they repent and be converted and live with the Lord as his friends that he loves. Lord, hear us

3. For joy in the gift of forgiveness (Pause).

As we have been forgiven by God, may we be forgiving towards others; not bearing grudges for past mistakes and generous, like God, in forgiving offences in our families and communities. Lord, hear us.

4. For joy in God’s power to save (Pause)

Like the people in the gospel story, may we rejoice in God’s gift of wholeness and healing; and may we bring that healing to others by our forgiveness and acceptance of them. Lord, hear us.

5. For those who are sick (Pause).

May those who are sick be well again. Legion of Mary Visit

A team of about 13 Legionaries from Ireland and Britain will be visiting the Parish from 31^st March to 7^th April. We will need accommodation for them. We appeal therefore to those who can help in this way to contact the priest as soon as possible. They will only need a place to sleep as they will provide their own food. Please, help.

Seminary Fund

Please help train our future priests by contributing to the cost of educating our students at St. John’s Seminary Wonersh. Eucharistic Adoration

There is Eucharistic Adoration every 1^st Friday of the month from 7pm to 8pm. The next adoration will be on Friday 4^th of May as during Lent we will be having Stations of the Cross on Fridays. All are invited.

Bible Studies Group

The Bible Study meets every last Wednesday of the month from 7.30 to 8.30 to discuss the readings of the following Sunday. All are welcome. The meetings will resume after Easter. APRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

V”Be cured.” Jesus word of healing to the leper brings consolation to all of us. Let us call upon Jesus, who never refused to help, and ask him to help all those most in need in the world today.

1. For those on the margins of society (Pause)

We pray for those whom society rejects, especially in our country and community. May we be people of compassion reaching out to those whom society abandons. Lord, hear us.

2.For a desire to imitate Christ (Pause).

May we be followers of Jesus in how we live, careful to avoid hurting others by attitude that discriminate and language that offends. Lord, hear us

3. For a desire to be healers in society (Pause).

Jesus is our model of acceptance, of tolerance and healing. Like him, may we be healers in society accepting people who are different from ourselves in language, culture and faith. Lord, hear us.

4. For a desire to spread the good news (Pause)

All of us experience the healing love of God expressed in the care and concern of others. By what we profess and how we live, may we declare to others our faith in the good news of God’s love and acceptance for all people. Lord, hear us.

5. For a desire to be well again (Pause).

May those who are sick be well again. V”I came to preach the good news.” We remember with gratitude all that God has done for us as we bring to his love the needs and concerns of the Church and of the world.

1. For God’s family (Pause)

We bring to his love the daily work of each member of Christ’s body; that in constant prayer we may learn God’s will and his way of doing things, till we work exclusively for his glory. Lord, hear us.

2.For forgiveness (Pause).

We bring to his love the mistakes, short-sightedness and arrogance of our world; that in Christ we may learn to respect one another and the treasures of the planet we inhabit. Lord, hear us

3. For those who suffer (Pause).

We bring to his love the wounded and the afraid, the despairing and the rejected; that they may find Christ suffering alongside them and allow him to restore them to full life. Lord, hear us.

VWe have listened to the Word of God. Christ has spoken to us with authority through the Church. We now approach God our Father in the name of Christ with hope and trust.

1. For prophets in our world (Pause)

May we be alert to the prophets in our world – in the church and in the community – and may we be open to their about God’s purposes for the church and society. Lord, hear us.

2.For a sense of balance in life (Pause).

Paul teaches us to be careful in what we do, finding time for God in our busy lives. May we be attentive to the needs of others, eager to show our love for God in our concern for those we care for. Lord, hear us

3. For a desire to live by the gospel (Pause).

May we be faithful to the teaching of the Gospel proclaiming it as God’s word for our time; and may our lives and values witness to its authority and its power to transform people and society. Lord, hear us.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest

“The sight of the star filled them with delight.” Today we celebrate the revelation of the Son of God to the whole world. Let us pray that people everywhere will come to recognise him.

1.For peace in the world (Pause).

May all the nations of the world receive the light that God sends, singing the praises of the Lord; and may they work for peace in our time – peace that is the gift of our God. Lord, hear us.

2.For an understanding of God’s kindness (Pause).

We rejoice that God’s promises have been fulfilled among all the peoples of our world. May we be generous in spirit to all people and by our witness to gospel values bring all people to acknowledge the mysteries of God. Lord, hear us

3. For missionaries (Pause).

We pray for missionaries all over the world, especially those in our own country; may the growth of the church through their efforts give then encouragement and inspiration in their work of spreading the good news. Lord, hear us.

4. For a sense of delight in God’s presence (Pause)

May we who celebrate this day experience joy and delight in the presence of our king; and by the honesty and integrity of our lives be generous in sharing the gifts we have received as faithful disciples of the Lord we worship. Lord, hear us.

May the revelation of Christ help them in their suffering. PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest:

As we begin the last week of Advent let us make an effort to pause occasionally amid the bustle of last-minute preparations, and consider the Christian meaning of the feast of Christmas, as we pray for the needs of all.

1.For an acceptance of God’s choices (Pause).

God chose the least of the clans and tribes of Judah as the people from whom the Messiah would come. May we be open to the choices God makes for us and acknowledge our God as living Lord of the Church and the world. Lord, hear us.

2.For a desire to be God’s faithful people (Pause).

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of the Messiah, may we renew our desire to live as God’s people, living according to God’s commands and obedient to the laws of Christ. Lord, hear us

3. For joy in the presence of the Lord (Pause).

The infant John leapt in his mother’s womb when he recognised the presence of the Lord. May we too be alert to God’s teaching and God’s visitation so that we may rejoice in the nearness of our God. Lord, hear us.

4. For a spirit of wonder (Pause)

Mary and Elizabeth were astonished by the blessings of God. In this time of Advent, may we too be open to God’s surprises looking for the fulfilment of God’s promises for us. Lord, hear us.

5. For good health (Pause).

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest

“The greatest among you must be your servant.” We acknowledge God’s strength and our own weakness when we pray. Let us pray that the people of God will be infused with humility and with his strength.

1. For leaders in the Churches (Pause).

May all those who exercise leadership in the Churches be people of integrity and justice. May they be faithful teachers of God’s good news and honest in practicing what they preach. Lord, hear us.

2. For a desire to spread the good news (Pause).

May we be eager to pass the good news about God’s love and God’s way. May our enthusiasm for the gospel be reflected not simply in what we proclaim but in what we value and how we live. Lord, hear us

3. For a spirit of compassion (Pause).

St. Paul reminds us that there is nothing we cannot do if we have the help of the One who gives us strength. So with great confidence let us turn to the Father and ask him to show his will.

1. For a deeper understanding of God’s love (Pause).

God’s saving purposes are for all the world. May we grow in understanding God’s love that takes away the power of death and promises consolation and hope for people everywhere. Lord, hear us.

2. For trust in God’s goodness (Pause).

Like Paul, we live through good times and bad, times of poverty and times of plenty. Like him, may we bless God always, trusting God’s concern for us and generous in our care for others. Lord, hear us

3. For an openness to what God wants (Pause).

May we be open to what God wants and reach out to others in life so that God’s reign might be proclaimed and people come to understand God’s love for all the people of the world. Lord, hear us

RCIA Classes

Classes for adults who wish to become full members of the Catholic Church will start on Monday 24^th October and run till Easter next year. Forms are available for collection from the priest. For more information contact the priest.

Second Collection

There will be a second collection next Sunday for SURVIVE-MIVA. There will be a speaker in all the Masses to enlighten us on the work of MIVA-SURVIVE.
