Christ Be Our Light

1. Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

2. Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has power to save us.
Make us your living voice.

Bread of Life

Bread of Life, Truth Eternal, Broken now to set us free,
The risen Christ, his saving power,

is here in bread and wine for me.

1. Lord, I know I am not worthy to receive you.
You speak the words and I am healed.
Here at your table, love’s mystery,
One bread, one cup, one family,

2. Lord, by your cross you reconciled us to the Father.
We have only to believe.
Your sacrifice, our victory
Now by your blood we are redeemed.

3. Lord, you gave your people Manna in the desert.
Still you fulfil our every need.
Lord, when we hunger, Lord, when we thirst,
We come to you and we receive (the bread of life…)

PP PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest

St. Paul reminds us that there is nothing we cannot do if we have the help of the One who gives us strength. So with great confidence let us turn to the Father and ask him to show his will.

1. For a deeper understanding of God’s love (Pause).

God’s saving purposes are for all the world. May we grow in understanding God’s love that takes away the power of death and promises consolation and hope for people everywhere. Lord, hear us.

2. For trust in God’s goodness (Pause).

Like Paul, we live through good times and bad, times of poverty and times of plenty. Like him, may we bless God always, trusting God’s concern for us and generous in our care for others. Lord, hear us

3. For an openness to what God wants (Pause).

May we be open to what God wants and reach out to others in life so that God’s reign might be proclaimed and people come to understand God’s love for all the people of the world.  Lord, hear us

4. For a desire to live by the gospel (Pause)

Jesus calls us to take seriously the demands of the gospel. May we be constant in reviewing what we value in life and be witnesses to his teaching by lives of integrity, honesty and truth. Lord, hear us.

5. For the sick (Pause).

We pray for the sick: Tom Hugh, Lewis Courtney, Baby Nicola Skye, Theresa Benson, Catherine Tomlin, Jim Walsh, Natasha Fitzpatrick, Francis Allen, Annie Nolan, Rose Wright, Ann McNicholl, Philomena O’Hagan, Mark Turner, Freddie Fusco, Collin Lydon, Sean Connoly, Alice Mbeng Bessong, William Guckian, Nerville, Fred Osby-Darko, Pat Whitlock, Yris Alomajan, George Sidney Marks, Francis and Mary McGilligan, Rev Fr Andreio Volle, Maria Gordon,  Stephen Appea, Joseph Darvill and Magaret Clare.

Lord, hear us.

6. For the dead (pause).

We remember those who have died, especially Bill Scully, Teresa Vallese, Sr. Therese Henriette, Sr. Lidia Noto and Sr. Carmen. Lord, hear us

We now ask Mary to teach us to respond to God’s invitation as willingly as she did.  Hail Mary…

For a few moments let us now pray silently.

Priest;

Father, you love us for you have made us your children. Open our hearts to know and do your will so that we may live with you always. We make our prayers through Christ our Lord.

Amen
